Ford Donates $5,560 to Royal Oak High School

The generosity of Royal Oak Ford along with the hard working volunteers of the Royal Oak Athletic Department raised $5,560 in the spring Drive One 4 UR School fundraiser. The funds were officially awarded to the athletic department last week.

The monies will be put toward renovating the school's weight room, which all athletic teams use. The project continues to develop but opened for student-athletes in July.

"Our partnership with Royal Oak Ford means a great deal to the Royal Oak Schools and the Athletic Department," said Athletic Director Jim Cole. "Their commitment to our kids and our programs is significant and allows us to do the extra things necessary to run a solid program. Thank you Royal Oak Ford for your support."

Drive One 4 UR School Returns

Royal Oak High School will partner with Royal Oak Ford again on Saturday, Sept. 7 in the hopes of raising another $6,000 when Drive One 4 UR School returns to the high school.

How It Works

For every test-driver, Ford will make a $20 donation to the school, up to $6,000. Any licensed driver 18 or older may test-drive a new vehicle at the high school from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. No appointment is necessary.

The school needs 300 drivers to earn the maximum donation of $6,000.

History of Support

In May 2011, the high school teamed with the Royal Oak Ford dealership for the first Drive One 4 UR School test-drive program and raised  An October 2011 Drive One 4 UR School event followed and then in June  into the high school’s bank account thanks to another successful community effort, and a group of talented student filmmakers who won the top prize of $10,000 in a Drive One 4 UR School video contest.

Drive One 4 UR School

When: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7

Where: Royal Oak High School, 1500 Lexington Blvd. (on Crooks Road north of 13 Mile Road)

What: Join Royal Oak High School and its supporters, plus Ford Motor Co. and the staff of Royal Oak Ford, for a day of fun, entertainment and food. Test-drive Ford vehicles to raise funds for the Royal Oak High School Athletic program.

• Participants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver’s license.
• Limit one test drive per household.
• Test drives will be seven-10 minutes.
• No car seats allowed.
