Beaumont Health System has been named Metro Detroit’s Healthiest Employer by Crain’s Detroit Business. The three-hospital health system will be recognized at the Oct. 29 Health Care Leadership Summit at the San Marino Club in Troy.
The award identifies Michigan businesses in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Washtenaw counties whose policies, programs and culture create healthy employees and a healthy work environment. Beaumont, Oakland County’s largest employer, is the winner in the “5,000+ employees” category.

Beaumont has established a healthy workplace by offering: onsite fitness centers; marked walking paths and stairwells; a walking challenge with Fitbit activity monitor, subsidized at 50 percent to employees and family members; tobacco-free working environment with free smoking cessation devices to help quit smoking; sit-stand work stations; healthier food options in vending machines and cafeterias, with nutritional information on digital screens; and support and resources to address mental health.
Beaumont also offers employees a $480 health care premium credit for getting an annual physical. Employees can earn another $100 in gift cards by participating in a variety of health activities.

Beaumont was selected as a winner based on an objective survey and analysis conducted by Indianapolis-based company, Healthiest Employer. There were six categories as part of the criteria: culture and leadership commitment; foundational component; strategic planning; communication and marketing; programming and interventions; and reporting and analysis.
