3 New Places to Eat Outdoors in Royal Oak

Sidewalk cafes have been open for business since April 15, but recently three new options have popped up to enjoy lunch or dinner and the art of people watching.

There is no better place to experience downtown Royal Oak’s various hipsters, motorcycles, and dog walkers than from one of the city's many sidewalk cafes. There are now three more options for people watching.

Still partially under construction, Pizzeria Biga has terraced and patio seating for 24 patrons. Planters and a fire pit are still being constructed. The location is ideal for train lovers as the seating runs along the railroad tracks.

to its new location next to the on May 11 and quickly added outdoor seats. Still a work in progress, plans submitted to the City Commission show the sidewalk café will eventually serve 24 patrons and be enclosed by a 36-inch tall metal guard rail.

, has recently added 24 outdoor seats on Main Street—half the number it originally proposed to the city in April. In May, the City Commissioner reduced the size of the proposed seating area in order to maintain a 10-foot clearance for pedestrians.
