Most CVS stores are open Christmas Day, but there is no guarantee that you will be able to fill a prescription. CVS is the spot to pick up a holiday card, pet food or other must-have item when just about everything else is closed.
The Walgreens at 1815 Rochester Rd. will be open on Christmas Day. The store's number one seller on Christmas? Butter.
3. StarbucksThe Starbucks located at 31105 Woodward Ave. in Royal Oak will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Day. There's a decidedly different atmosphere: more laid back, quiet even, as folks read newspapers, pore over their laptops or sit quietly to savor the day.
The convenience store becomes the ultra spot for convenience Christmas Day. On the way to Grandma's house, you can also pick up some last-minute items, from Advil to Gatorade. The 7-Eleven at 1121 N. Campbell is open 24 hours on Christmas Day.

Most retailers will reopen Dec. 26 and are expecting one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
