Andiamo Offers Pasta and Passion during Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It's nearly the ides of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Royal Oak businesses are jumping in to help raise awareness, gather donations for research and offering help to those who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

and are teaming up this month in an effort to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research with its . will host a series of 7-10 p.m. each Friday in October, with proceeds benefiting various local breast cancer-related charities, and will to Susan G. Komen for the Cure through the first week of November.

is doing its part, too, and looking ahead to help those who have breast cancer detect it a little sooner.

The restaurant has teamed up with to present Pasta & Passion, a monthlong event aimed at raising funds to help raise awareness and early detection of breast cancer.

Throughout October, Andiamo will donate $2 of every entree sold to Oakwood Healthcare to provide free mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women. The offer is good at any of the nine Andiamo locations. No coupon is necessary.

Several years ago, an Andiamo employee was diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease that eventually took her life.

“It was a very difficult situation for everyone -- her family, her friends and everyone she worked with,” said president and CEO Joe Vicari.

“We wanted to get involved," he said. "We wanted to give back to the community."
