Detroit Red Wings' Henrik Zetterberg Indroduces Swedish Treat in Royal Oak Today

Just Baked brings the classic European treat, Royal Swedish Snowballs, to Michigan with a noon launch in Royal Oak with Henrik Zetterberg.

Today, for the first time in the United States, the classic Swedish treat, Royal Swedish Snowballs, will be produced and sold in Michigan, courtesy of Just Baked, a specialty cupcake shop and bakery with 12 locations across metro Detroit.

To celebrate the launch of Royal Swedish Snowballs, Henrik Zetterberg, of the Detroit Red Wings, will greet customers at the Royal Oak Just Baked location (32828 Woodward Ave.) today from noon to 1pm. The first 50 customers, who purchase a 6-pack of Snowballs, will receive an autographed Royal Swedish Snowball T-Shirt by Henrik Zetterberg. (No other memorabilia will be autographed.)

For more than 100 years, Swedes have been satisfying their sweet tooth with Royal Snowballs, which consists of a light Vanilla creme covered in chocolate & sprinkled with coconut snowflakes. Making it look like a “snowball”.

Jan Jutbo, owner and CEO of Royal Swedish Snowballs, has been preparing to bring the product to the U.S. for years, and ultimately found the right partnership with Just Baked and its Founder, Pam Turkin.  Jutbo and the Royal Swedish Snowballs company committed to the Michigan market in large part thanks to Zetterberg.

“It’s thrilling to be a partner in the introduction of this unique and beloved Swedish treat to the metro Detroit community,” said Turkin.  “At Just Baked, we pride ourselves on crafting delicious, beautiful and fantastically fun desserts.  We feel the Royal Swedish Snowballs are a perfect addition to our current offerings.”

Jutbo added, “I am looking forward with great optimism to finally bringing our classic Swedish treat to the U.S.  We have devoted considerable effort to staying true to the original recipe and production methods, and I am confident that the American people will love our coconut delicacy.”

“I am so proud to have the opportunity to share a taste of my home with the people of Michigan,” said Zetterberg.  “I grew up enjoying Snowballs, and I know generations of Americans will now love them as well.”

Royal Swedish Snowballs will be available in all metro Detroit Just Baked locations today.  They will be sold in 4-packs and 6-packs, and will retail for $5.99 and $8.99, respectively.
