UPDATE: There Are Still Tickets Left in Royal Oak to Jack White Concert

"You've heard of Deadheads, well I am a Whitehead," said Mary Curry of Ferndale. "I know that doesn't sound very flattering."

Curry doesn't need some sort of skin treatment. She's referring to the fact that she is willing to wait in line in the cold for four hours outside in downtown Royal Oak to pick up tickets to see Detroit native and former White Stripes frontman Jack White perform at a May 24 matinee for 1,500 fans at the Scottish Rite Theater at the Masonic Temple in Detroit.

Half of those tickets went on sale at noon at UHF, the other half at Street Corner Music in Oak Park.

As of 8 a.m., only 25 people were waiting in line for the tickets but by 11:30 a.m. the line had swelled to about 150 people. By 3:30 p.m., the lines were down, and there were still tickets left at UHF, which is open until 5:30 p.m.

, with some coming from as far away as Cleveland.

Fans with cash only will be able to purchase two tickets at $48 each. They'll have to show ID to purchase the tickets because they are non-transferable. The person who buys the tickets must go to the show and they can bring one person with them.

It's all a part of an effort to make sure real fans like Curry, who has seen White perform more than 30 times, get a shot at tickets. When tickets for White's May 24 evening performance went on sale last month they were gone in minutes.

"I had a temper tantrum when I didn't get tickets and I am almost 40 years old," said Curry, who was third in line this morning at UHF. "I tried to buy them online but couldn't. So how did stubhub.com get every ticket?"

Alia Kaakani, 25, drove in from Kalamazoo this morning to wait in line for tickets. She brought a chair, warm clothes and food, but nothing to drink. She doesn't want to risk having to leave the line. Kaakani, who has never seen White perform live before, read about the ticket sale on Facebook.

"I think it's a good idea. I tried to buy tickets online but it was impossible, so I am here," she said.

In addition to selling the concert tickets, UHF will have White's "Blunderbuss" LP on sale for $16.95, $11 below list price for today only. The CD version sells for $11.95.
