Statewide average of $3.72 is still almost a dollar more than last year at this time. Royal Oak drivers finding a few 'bargains' around town.

Continuing their roller coaster ride, gas prices are down 16 cents per gallon over the past week to a statewide average of $3.72, AAA Michigan reports.

That sounds like good good news for people filling up tanks for drives up north, boating trips and lawn mowing services, but that's about 92 cents per gallon higher than last year at this time, the auto club says.

Royal Oak drivers looking for a bargain can usually find the least expensive prices at the three gas stations at Crooks and 12 Mile roads, where gas was $3.65 a gallon this morning. Several gas stations in the 14 Mile and Coolidge area reported $3.63 a gallon this morning.
