Get Out: Celebrate Zoo Habitats, Taste Michigan, Beer Tour

Adult events and family events in store this weekend.

Why go: The participating restaurants will be offering a special discounted rate for a three-course menu. This will be a great opportunity to try something new and flavorful.

Zoo Birthday Bash

Where/when: The community is invited to join the party starting at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Detroit Zoological Park.
Why go: The celebration will  mark the Detroit Zoo's 100th year and 10-year anniversaries of three of its habitats. The event will include polar bear crafts at the Arctic Ring of Life, games at the National Amphibian Conservation Center and tattoos at the Holden Museum of Living Reptiles. Fun facts, keeper talks and animal enrichment activities will take place at all three habitats. Visitors also will be able to test their knowledge of the Detroit Zoo with a scavenger hunt.
Pricing: Admission is $12 for adults 15 to 61, $10 for senior citizens 62 and older, and $8 for children 2 to 14 (children younger than 2 get in free).

Motor City Brew Tours

When: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday

Why go:  Motor City Brew Tours is providing Bus Transportation with multiple pickup options to/from Michigan Brewers Guild Fall Beer Festival at Eastern Market. Motor City Brew Tours offers worry-free transportation to/from the festival, Deluxe Motor Coach & restroom on board and water/snacks.

Stagecrafters Present Wit

When: 8 p.m. Friday through Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday

Where: 

Why go: Wit is a Pulitzer-winning drama.  ROCC members, buy one ticket at regular price, get another ticket half off. Wit is the winner of the 1999 Pulitzer Prize and a "must see" for anyone in the healthcare field. Moving, funny and wise, this drama centers on life, death and human compassion.

Cost: Advance - $14 ea. At the door - $16 each. Students: Half price on Thursdays

Police and Fire Open House

When: 11 a.m. Saturday

Where:

Why go: The Royal Oak Police Officers and Firefighters will be hosting an annual open house with refreshments, a live technical rescue demonstration, Sparky the Fire Dog and more. Children can get their pictures taken with real turnout gear and squirt water at a miniature house with flames in the windows.
