Readers' Choice: Duggan's Voted Best Place for St. Patrick's Day

The popular Irish pub on Woodward is tops for green beer, Irish food and live entertainment in our weekly poll.

The results are in:  was the most popular choice in our Readers' Choice poll this week for  in Royal Oak.

Duggan's, a year-round popular and historic spot on Woodward Avenue north of 13 Mile Road, crushed its competition with 48 percent of the vote.

The building cannot be missed – it is painted a bright green with splashes of orange and plenty of neon at night. The huge second-story windows open on warm-weather nights to the sounds of Woodward cruisers below.

Duggan's is ready for St. Patrick's Day revelers. Doors open at 7 a.m. Saturday and local radio station WOMC 104.3 FM will be broadcasting live from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and live entertainment from 4 p.m.-midnight.

"I'm driving up from KY this week and am planning on spending St Patricks Day at DUGGANS, my favorite Irish Pub," Teresia Carnes wrote on Duggan's Facebook page.

While you are enjoying a cold green beer, try Duggan's famous Big Chief burger or Irish food specials such as corned beef and cabbage or Irish Lamb Stew.
