Bedside Healers Offers Fuzzy Comfort

Royal Oak and Ferndale business sells stuffed animals with a Velcro strap.

Sometimes a large amount of comfort can come in the form of a small stuffed animal.

Jason Peach realized this after his father spent six months in the hospital and stayed connected with a stuffed animal throughout his stay.

Peach decided to start Bedside Healers Inc., selling stuffed animals with a Velcro strap, so hospital patients could keep them strapped to a bed rail, or people could attach them other places to keep them close

What does your business offer?

Bedside Healers has created three amazingly cuddly plush animals with a handy Velcro strap on the back that allows your Bedside Healer to attach to almost anything. The Heart Nosed Dog, the Golden Lab and the Black Bear are the first members of our family. By simply having a Bedside Healer stuffed animal hanging on the hospital bed or wearing one on a wrist can be just enough to comfort anyone and remind them of the ones who love them.

What's your most popular product or service?

I would have to say our most popular item is our Soft and Cuddly Heart Nosed Puppy. They are available in pink and light blue.

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?

We are a for profit company, but with our business plan and platform that we have in place we are on track to to needy recipients in hospitals all over the midwest this year.

When was the business founded?

June 2012

How did your business come to be?

My father became very sick in 2001 and ended up spending six months in the Hospital. Our family members took turns spending the night with him so that the nights he was alone were kept to a minimum.

My step-moms name is Robin. She brought my father a plush robin and I remember how important that stuffed animal was to him. I remember on more than one occasion when my father’s stuffed animal had either been moved off his bed by a nurse or it had fallen on to the floor. Whenever my father would awake and find his plush robin missing he became very distraught. If my father was reacting this way about his animal, I could only imagine that all the other patients were having the same problem.

I wanted my dad to be able to have the animal on his bed rail so the only option was to come up with a solution. With that, Bedside Healers was created.

Why did you choose the area you did?

I Chose Royal Oak and Ferndale because I have lived here for the past 15 years and I enjoy how this area is centrally located. The people in this area are very pro small business and the support is very refreshing.
