"The design of the Royal Oak store is just a little different," general manager Renee Hadley said. "It's designed to move traffic a little better."

The yogurt shop is made up of cafe tables as well as a make-your-own ice cream bar, where customers can pour their own soft serve and help themselves to toppings. Customers decide on size and taste and pay by the ounce. Flavors range from peanut butter to tart blueberry, with such toppings as muesli, Oreos, carob chips, toasted coconut and fresh blueberries.

Sweet Earth also offers kosher, wheat-free and gluten-free frozen yogurt to accommodate a variety of health needs.

"We'll offer 14 favors," Hadley said. "We'll always have our staples like chocolate, vanilla, birthday cake and peanut butter on hand. We'll be coordinating with our Birmingham store on the other flavors, so if we don't have your favorite in Royal Oak you'll be able to find it in Birmingham and vice versa."

Look for Sweet Earth to open mid- to late summer.
