Thai on Main to Close after More Than a Decade in Royal Oak

The Thai restaurant will stop serving at the end of the month.

Thai on Main is located at 415 S. Main St.

Thai on Main, which opened at 415 S. Main St. in 2001, plans to close its doors at the end of February.

Known for its Pad Thai, Gang Gai, and Drunken Noodles, the owners say they plan to look for another building in Royal Oak, preferably in a area where metered parking is not an issue.

The eatery is the sixth business since December to leave South Main Street. The others are Ariana Gallery (119 S. Main), Incognito (323 S. Main), Cold Stone Creamery (420 S. Main), Barnes & Noble (500 S. Main) and Franklin Fine Wine (511 S. Main).

Sources indicate landlord concerns and increased rent have been issues.

I see I have another recruit regarding my city management moron remark. No apology. You may not be a moron but if you act like one, talk like one you are one in my book. Thai on Main was not that good, prefer Siam Spicy on Woodward. Even Noodles imitation Thai is not all that. Though I like their service and community spirit and it is clean the portions as the old joke goes are sooo small. I hope they survive the closing of Barnes and Noble where they received a lot of foot traffic. The biggest mistake Judy (we butt heads on this I know) is the banning of bicycles from sidewalks including responsible RO residents who with their kids all use the sidewalks. What about the senior tricycles, the unicyclists, the skateboarders? Riding a bicycle in the combination alcohol alley and drag strip we call Main is a recipe for a fatality. They are finally going spend a little on bicycle racks and bann bicycles at the same time? MMMM....ooo..r...ons! Sorry I cannot help it.

Add what is going on with Kouzinas where the parking is free. Now that they have a line after serving large well stuffed custom gyro (call it shawarma and they will not know what you are talking about) for over a year I could not help but notice that their fresh grilled pita that is the basis of their sandwich has shrunk to taco size that results in sloppy Joe lunch.
