Youngsters receiving medical treatment at in Royal Oak got a special visit from a Hollywood top cat on Wednesday.
Notorious fighter – and lover – Puss in Boots soft-pawed his way around the hospital on Wednesday greeting patients with radio host Cyndy Canty of Magic 105.1-FM.
Canty is an unofficial cheerleader for Beaumont Hospital, and was once employed there. She also gave birth to now-grown son Brendan at the Royal Oak hospital.
“This is like ‘my’ hospital,” she said, “and the chance arose to be with Puss in Boots, who is my very, very, very favorite character from the Shrek movies.”
Zeke Ostrowski, 15, of Detroit was delighted to see the outlaw cat. Ostrowski, who had his picture taken with Puss in Boots in his hospital room, said he’s seen three of the Shrek animated movies.
Anyel Balicki of Roseville was another patient who got a surprise visit. The shy 5-year-old said she did not know who Shrek was but immediately recognized Puss in Boots when he walked in her hospital room. “Oh, I know him!” she said.
