Weekend Countdown: Chili Cookoff

The parade isn't the only thing happening on Saturday. Check out the chili cookoff afterward, which has local businesses competing for the title.

What happens after 5 p.m. at the Royal Oak Farmers Market on Saturday? A feast of the city's best chili recipes. Check out the and then warm up with a hearty bowl of the winter classic. What a way to spend the weekend.

  • Cost: Tickets are $5 in advance (available at royaloakchilicookoff.eventbrite.com) or $8 at the door
  • Why go: The Royal Oak Jaycees are hosting its second annual Royal Oak Chili Cook-Off with lots of fun activities, such as live music, kids activities, a silent auction and local beer from MillKing It Productions. Local restaurants, including , , the and businesses and community organizations will enter their chili recipes into the competition. Titles include Best of the Best, Hottest and Most Creative. Admission includes two chili-tasting tickets. Additional tasting tickets will be available for purchase at the event.
