Where are UV Charging Stations in Royal Oak?

A Patch reader wants to know if stations at the Emagine Theatre are functional.

Patch reader Joel  wrote: "Hi Patch...in a search for EV friendly charging stations in Royal Oak, I learned Emagine Theatre is a location with two dedicated EV charging stations. The theater always has cones in front and are never available. May I trouble you to help answer when these stations will be online?"

To answer Brian's question, Patch reached out to Paul Glantz, founder and chairman of Emagine Entertainment, via Royal Oak City Manager Don Johnson.

Are the charging stations in front of the theater functional and available to the public?

"Yes; they are," Glantz said. "The cones are there to discourage people with gasoline vehicles from parking there. A person with an electric vehicle is welcome to park in those spots. Though we do not charge extra for the charge, those are paid parking spots."

Looking for other options? Communications Director Patricia Janeway says there are two parking spots near electric outlets in the Detroit Zoo's parking structure that are reserved for electric cars.

There is also a public EV plug at Consumers Energy, located 4600 Coolidge Hwy., according to the PlugShare app.
