Royal Oak HS Girls Varsity Soccer beats Troy Athens High School 3-1

5-9-2013
Sophomore Madyson Szydlowski had a big night for the varsity against Troy Athens scoring all three goals in the Ravens 3-1 victory Tuesday. Another team in the tough OOA Red division, Athens, scored their only goal in the closing minutes. The night belonged to Maddy. She first scored on a penalty kick after being dragged down in the box, and cooly placed the PK low to the goalies left as the goalie went right. The second goal was scored off her head from a nice left footed cross by Junior Samantha Bartelotti. The third goal again off Maddy's head from the right foot of Senior Tara Swanson. Scoring goals for Madyson is nothing new, she is an instinctive goal score who rarely scores the same way twice. She is able to anticipate the play and gets herself in a position to make something happen. She doesn't mind taking on a defender one on one, and when she does, good things usually happen.

The JV also beat Troy Athens earlier.

ROHS plays Detroit Country Day Thursday 5-9-2013 at DCD at 7:00. DCD looks to be tough having beat Troy earlier this year 1-0.
