5 Things to do This Week

Here are some highlights of what is going on in Royal Oak.

  1. Monday: The Royal Oak City Commission is changing venues today. The will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the , 1545 E. Lincoln Ave. Agenda items include approving parking enforcement recommendations on Brockton Avenue outside of and approving a nearly $50,000 settlement agreement with a woman holding the city at fault for a slip-and-fall accident.   2. Tuesday: The Royal Oak Schools will begin at 7 p.m. at the , 1123 Lexington Blvd. The forum was rescheduled from last week because of school closings due to the snowstorm. All district stakeholders are invited to attend and participate in the superintendent search process. The Michigan Association of School Boards, the organization selected to conduct the search, will conduct the event.
  3. Wednesday: Interested in who is trying to obtain liquor license approval or how the process works? The begins at 5:30 p.m. in the third-floor commission room, 211 S. Williams St. The meeting is open to the public. 
  4. Thursday: begins at 6:30 p.m. on the campus, 739 S. Washington Ave., inside the Lila Jones Johnson Theater. The Campus Student Life Office  is hosting the interactive presentation by Dr. Donna Cox, professor of music at Washington University in St. Louis.
  5. Thursday: Area teens are invited to a chocolate party at the 222 E. 11 Mile Rd. The is from 6:30-8 p.m. and will include the opportunity to create some handcrafted chocolates. Registration is required in advance.
