Here are some highlights of what is going on around Royal Oak this week.

Wednesday – The Liquor Control Committee meets 3 p.m. on the third floor of . The committee meetings are a good way to find out about businesses looking to acquire liquor licenses in the city and businesses interested in extending their alcohol service hours.

Thursday – The Royal Oak Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. at the Royal Oak Public Schools . Items on the agenda include approval of the contract of incoming Superintendent and a presentation of district's the six-year MEAP (Michigan Educational Assessment Program) trend.

Thursday – HAVEN’s main fundraiser, Promenade of Hope, begins 6:30 p.m. at . The event celebrates survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Friday – The Royal Oak Symphony Orchestra performs 8 p.m. in the Dondero Auditorium at . The performance will include Sylvia (ballet suite) by Léo Delibes and Prelude to "The Afternoon of a Faun" by Claude Debussy. Tickets are available at the door and are $10 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens.
