5 Things to Know This Week: Fundraisers, Concerts, Art Tours and More

There's a lot going on in Royal Oak this week. What do you have planned?

It's a busy week in Royal Oak, as usual. Here are five things you should know as you go about your week:

  1. Applebee’s fundraiser on Tuesday: The Royal Oak Senior Center will be having a fundraiser all day at Applebee’s located at 1275 W. 14 Mile Rd. in Madison Heights. Dine at Applebee’s and 15 percent of your bill will be donated to the Royal Oak Senior Citizen Center. You must bring flyer with you for donation to count. Flyers are available at the , and .
  2. Wild Summer Nights on WednesdayThe Wild Summer Nights concert series continues with crowd favorite . Guests can bring a blanket and pack a picnic basket to enjoy while the folk music plays. Concert is free with admission to the zoo. Show starts at 6:30 p.m.
  3. Judicial candidates speak on Thursday: Candidates for 6th Circuit Court will hold a forum from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Auditorium. There are five non-incumbent candidates running to fill retiring Judge Edward Sosnick’s seat in the primary. Each candidate will speak to his/her credentials and provide their reasons for running. There will be time for questions and answers. The non-partisan forum is Free. Call Helen Cost with questions at 248-549-9423. 
  4. Wild Wine at the Detroit Zoo on Friday: Raise a glass to wildlife at the inaugural from 6 to 10:30 p.m. The event will allow guests to sample wine from more than 20 local and national wineries and vineyards. Tickets are $20.
  5. DIA hosts 4-city Inside|Out tour on Sunday: The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) is offering walking/biking tours of the  reproductions in Royal Oak, Clawson, Troy and Ferndale on Sunday. Participants can sign up for all four tours or pick the combinations that suit their schedules.
