5 Things to Know this Week

We've got meetings, lectures and more going on in Royal Oak.

There's always a lot going on in Royal Oak. Here are some highlights this week:

  1. Teacher Records Day on Monday: There is no school for students attending Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools on Monday. 
  2. Parenting Series begins Monday: The will host a series of four parent workshops presented by parent educators from Great Parents Great Start – Oakland. The series begins at 7 p.m. Monday with a workshop focusing on the stress of raising a family and how stress can be managed effectively so that children learn from their parents’ ability to handle stress.   3. Fishes of Death Valley on Wednesday: Royal Oak Nature Society will host "Fishes of Death Valley" beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Bob Muller, Royal Oak Nature Society naturalist, will talk about some of America’s most endangered and unusual wildlife. This event is free to the public.   4. Auto auction Saturday: The city of Royal Oak, in conjunction with the city of Berkley, will hold an auto auction starting at 9:30 a.m. at A & M Towing, 303 E. Harrison. Check the property auction listing on the city's website for additional information.
  5. Royal Oak Democratic Club meets Saturday: Guest speaker Rich Robinson, director of the Michigan Campaign Finance Network (MCFN), will discuss concerns regarding the influence of money in politics and the need for campaign finance reform in Michigan. For more information about MCFN, visit mcfn.org. The meeting at the is free and open to the public.
