5 Things to Know This Week: City Commission Meeting, Groundhog Day and More

It's a busy week in Royal Oak, as usual. Here are five things you should know as you go about your week:

1. City Commission meets Monday: The City Commission meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Click here for the agenda.
2. Preschool Information Night on Monday is Cancelled: This scheduled event at Northwood Elementary School has been cancelled due to the schools being closed. This event has been rescheduled to Monday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. at Northwood Elementary School.
3. Zumba class on Friday: Zumba Gold is the low-impact version of Zumba, which combines a dance workout with a party-like atmosphere. Zumba Gold classes at the Mahany/Meininger Senior Center takes the popular Latin-dance inspired workout of Zumba and makes it accessible for seniors, beginners or others needing modifications in their exercise routine.  Come join the 10:20 a.m. party! Cost: $6.
4. Groundhog Day is Saturday: More winter? Punxsutawney Phil, the rodent meteorologist, will make his annual predication at Gobbler's Knob in the Pennsylvania wilds on Saturday. Can't make it to PA? You can watch it live at http://www.visitpa.com/groundhog-day-live-stream from 5:45 to 8:30 a.m.
5. Parks & Recreation Master Plan Draft on display through Sunday:Public input is wanted on the The 2013 City of Royal Oak Parks & Recreation Master Plan, which by be viewed at the Salter Community Center, Mahany-Meininger Senior Center, and Royal Oak Library through Sunday. The plan can also be found on the city's website at: www.ci.royal-oak.mi.us/portal/departments/recreation/master-plan.
