5 Things to Know This Week: Planning Commission Meets, Zoo Concert, Annual Garage Sale and More

There's a lot going on in Royal Oak this week. What do you have planned?

It's a busy week in Royal Oak, as usual. Here are five things you should know as you go about your week:

  • The Royal Oak Planning Commission and on its agenda will be the . Residents can attend the meeting on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at to voice their opinions on the topic. If you can’t make it, check back here for updates after the meeting.
  • The  at the Detroit Zoo continues Wednesday with Mr. Seley and the Troublemakers performing at 6:30 p.m. Mr. Seley is a children's performer so bring the little ones out for an evening of music and fun. Guests can bring a blanket and pack a picnic basket to enjoy while the music plays. Concerts are free with regular Zoo admission. The animal habitats and Dinosauria remain open until 8 p.m.
  • There’s at the  at 7 p.m. Thursday. Middle and high school students will have the opportunity to explore ways to create personal maps of their lives and worlds. Photographer and collage artist Susan Sheiner will show how to use a variety of media to create their own maps. The event is free but registration is limited, so call 248-246-3725 to sign up.
  • The first showings of the new Harry Potter movie will begin at midnight Thursday and continue throughout the weekend. Check out the in Royal Oak for showtimes for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
  • As you make your weekend plans, don’t forget about the 36th Annual Antique & Garage Sale at the Sixth and Lafayette parking structure in downtown Royal Oak. There will be lots of antiques, collectibles, handmade crafts, jewelry and special treasures to find from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $2 and children under 12 get in free.
