Beaumont Children's Hospital NoBLE Program Honored at Pinatas for Peace Event

Awards program highlights community leaders and programs making a difference in the fight against bullying.

The NoBLE anti-bullying program at Beaumont Children’s Hospital was named one of six honorees at the Oakland Mediation Center’s 2013 Piñatas for Peace event held at the Troy Marriott on May 3. The Cinco de Mayo themed dinner, dance and silent auction was hosted by radio show personality “The Appliance Doctor” Joe Gagnon. Meanwhile, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson served as honorary chair of the event.

The annual event raises funds to help OMC deliver programs proven to prevent and reduce youth bullying and violence. Their goal is to keep kids in school and out of the juvenile justice system.

Beaumont’s NoBLE program, along with its director Marlene Seltzer, M.D., was recognized as winner of the Community Hero Award. The award highlights NoBLE’s launch and successful first year under the leadership of Dr. Seltzer. It also recognizes the program's mission to help end bullying through a hospital-based, multidisciplinary approach that relies on education, counseling and a network of community partnerships.
