Centennial Celebration, ParkFest and More this Week

There's a lot going on in Royal Oak this week. What do you have planned?

It's a busy week in Royal Oak, as usual. Here are five things you should know as you go about your week:

  1. MDOT Public Meeting on Woodward Avenue Resurfacing on Monday: Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) staff will host an open house-style meeting to provide an overview of the upcoming Woodward Avenue resurfacing project between 14 Mile Road and Oakridge Boulevard in the cities of Royal Oak, Berkley, Huntington Woods and Pleasant Ridge. Interested parties will have the opportunity to learn details about the upcoming project from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Royal Oak Public Library.
  2. Library Hosts Game Show "Be a Money Smarty" On Wednesday:   Created specifically for Money Smart Week, the "Be a Money Smarty" presentation will be delivered in a high-energy ‘lightning round’ fashion, where four recognized experts ‘leave it all at the podium’ and share their ‘top 10 tips’ in just 10 minutes. The program starts at 6:45 p.m. at the Royal Oak Public Library. 
  3. Centennial Celebration at High School on Thursday: Students, parents, alumni, and members of the community are invited to share in the celebration of Royal Oak High School’s 100th year. The event will be held from 4-7 p.m. and as a part of the evening, the Royal Oak Hall of Fame will be officially unveiled and dedicated and a lip dub video recorded last week will debut.
  4. ParkFest on Saturday: The Department of Parks and Recreation is partnering with Ford Arts, Beats & Eats for the 2013 Adopt-A-Park cleanup weekend on April 27 and 28. Volunteer and join in the fun at ParkFest on Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Memorial Park. See the attached PDF fliers for more information.
  5. Royal Oak Ice Show this weekend: The 34th Annual Ice Show performances will be held at the John Lindell Ice Arena on April 27 and 28. On Saturday there will be a matinee show at 1:30 p.m. and a 6 p.m. evening show. Sunday's show is at 1:30 p.m. John Lindell is located at 1403 Lexington Boulevard.
