Expect delays until the road is fully re-opened to traffic in July.

The following information was provided in a press release.

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects its contractor to begin work on the resurfacing of Coolidge Highway, between Webster Road and Woodward Ave. in Royal Oak, this Monday, April 22.

The road will remain open to traffic during the project, but will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and motorists should expect delays. The project is expected to be fully re-opened to traffic by July 3.

The project will involve removal of the existing road surface and concrete pavement repairs followed by the application of three inches of new asphalt. There will also be improvements to concrete curbs and gutters, sidewalks and crosswalk ramps as well as drainage enhancements and upgrades to the traffic signals at the Coolidge intersection with Judson (the south entrance to Beaumont Hospital).

The project is expected to cost about $815,000. Of this amount, $642,000 is being paid for with federal funds. RCOC and the City of Royal Oak will split the remaining costs.
