In town for a follow-up medical checkup at the Beaumont's Craniofacial Clinic, the 10-year-old shows off her new nose.

Charlotte Ponce, 10, of Spring Lake, and her 5-year-old cousin Blake enjoyed winter break bowling at Star Lanes in Royal Oak on Monday.

The West Michigan girl was in town for a follow-up medical checkup with Dr. Kongkrit Chaiyasate, of Beaumont's Craniofacial Clinic. Charlotte had four surgeries at Beaumont in 2012 to reconstruct her nose and upper lip. when she was an infant, left the girl severely disfigured.

Charlotte's last surgery on Nov. 30 gave her a chance to heal before revealing her new face in time for Christmas. In January, she returned to public school. And, on Monday, Chaiyasate gave Charlotte the exciting news that it is OK to participate in gym class.
