Flash Mob to Hit Royal Oak’s Farmers Market

Keep the Money in the MItt’s “MItt Mob” to hit Royal Oak’s Farmers Market during food truck rally.

Who can transform you on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Royal Oak Farmers Market?

Keep the Money in the Mitt wants  the answer to be their “MItt Mob” as they strive to get everyone to “Take the MItt Promise” statewide aimed at keeping consumer dollars in the state, by spending them at Michigan-based businesses on Michigan-made products.

"We want it to be a ubiquitous statement," Auten says.  She hopes that if people make this promise, it will not only support our local businesses and helpMichigan in its’ economic recovery but it will also help young consumers realize the importance of supporting local businesses, so they will Keep the Money in the MItt as well.

MItt Mob events are similar to flash mob events, but with one key difference. Instead of dancing in the street, people who participate in MItt Mob events spend money. They spend this money at local businesses with the goal of supporting them and encouraging others to buy local. On Wednesday, October 3rd, Keep the Money in the MItt will hit the Royal Oak Farmers Market with a fun twist; MItt Mob and Flash Mob. First, Tricia Auten, founder of Keep the Money in the MItt, ask that consumers make a promise to spend their money on local products.  With their right hand raised in the air, to look like the state, consumers repeat after Auten, "I promise to change my consuming habits to include purchases from as many Michigan-based businesses as possible!" Then let the Flash Mob and the spending begin!

To register to participate in the flash mob and to learn the dance, visit the "Keep the Money in the Mitt" website (www.KeeptheMoneyintheMItt.com).

The Royal Oak Farmers Market MItt Mob Oct. 3 is in conjunction with the monthly food truck rally 5 p.m.-9 p.m. which features El Guapo, Mac Shack, Chow Catering, Taco Mama, Green Zebra, Treat Dreams, San Street and De Baja del Sol.  For more information please call the market office at 248-246-3078.

A commendable activity, but I can't help thinking its name is going to confuse people during this election season!

Let U.S. not forget the deficit came from Bush cutting taxes for the 1%-which is a loss of revenue to OUR government. Then he waged 2 expensive and bloody wars? Plus let U.S. also not forget the passage of the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act -an act created by Republicans and is the primary reason the US dove into the worst recession since the great depression?

And so do we really thinks it's wise to vote for a man calling to do more of the same that got U.S. into this mess? We are on the road to recovery-it's not going to happen over night-and it would be nice if the Republicans would do something besides post negative adds everywhere with their corporate $$$$$ I'm an Independent voter-I'm voting for Obama 2012 without a doubt.

THIS EVENT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MITT ROMNEY OR POLITICS. NOTHING. ZERO. NADA. IT'S ABOUT KEEPING MICHIGAN PRODUCTS SELLING IN MICHIGAN. For crying out loud Chuck, have you ever taken time to actually read an article before spouting off at the mouth??

Using the term "Mitt" in their marketing--during an election year with a guy named "Mitt" Romeny running --was not a smart move. For example (even though I agree with him), just see how Chuch reacted.
