Get in the "Loop" with Detroit Zoo's Science On a Sphere

Newest film puts a spin on Earth's continuous motion.

Detroit Zoo visitors can experience Earth’s spin cycle with Science On a Sphere’s (SOS) newest film from NASA called “Loop”. Using stylized visualizations of data gathered by NASA’s orbiting fleet of Earth-observing spacecraft, the 10-minute movie explores the natural forces that cause the planet’s circulation patterns.

“‘Loop’ is a captivating film with exciting visuals, a beautiful original score and even a metaphor about finding equilibrium in life,” said Detroit Zoological Society Executive Director Ron Kagan.

“Loop” is showing Saturday through Tuesday at the Detroit Zoo’s Wildlife Interpretive Gallery during regular Zoo hours.

Science On a Sphere is an animated, hologram-like globe that displays dynamic representations of the planet’s atmospheric, oceanic and land activity as if viewed from space.
