Get Out: Goodnight Histio, 9/11 Tribute, 'Urban Roots' and More

A variety of colorful events are going on this weekend in Royal Oak, including:

When/where: Thursday 6 p.m.,
Why go: Help a good cause and help raise awareness of histiocytic disorders. Shawn Parys is the father of two children who have been diagnosed with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), for which there is no cure. Why go: Heat up the night with salsa! Learn to salsa dance from 9-10 p.m. for free with Marc Brewer and afterward dance the night away with music from DJ Cisco until 2 a.m. in this 21 and up event.

Why go: Urban Roots is a documentary directed by Mark MacInnis that explores the urban farming movement in Detroit. 323 East Gallery and Urban Roots have teamed up for an art exhibition featuring a variety of artists' interpretations of the movement. The exhibit runs until Oct. 5.
