A pre-trial hearing scheduled for Tuesday morning for former Royal Oak High School Principal Michael Greening on two felony embezzlement charges has been postponed two weeks.
The new date for Greening to appear in Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac is 10:30 a.m on Nov. 27. There is no record for why the date was moved.
The last time Greening was in court on Oct. 23 his defense attorney, Paul Stablein, told Judge Shalina Kumar he has been in discussions with Oakland County Assistant Prosecutor Robert Novy. He said the two were close to a "resolution to the matter."
If convicted on two felony embezzlement charges, Greening faces up to five years in prison and/or a fine of $10,000 or three times the amount embezzled, whichever is greater, for each charge. The former principal was released on $50,000 personal recognizance with conditions, including that he not leave the state.
