News from the Pews: Potluck, Parade Donuts, Spiritual Vitamins
Area churches offer Fourth of July activities and a new midweek program.
Local churches and places of worship always have much going on. Here are some highlights for the coming week:
Potluck Picnic
Join for an afternoon picnic from noon-2 p.m. on July 7. The potluck picnic will take place on the church grounds. In addition to wonderful food and fellowship, there will be readings of short, inspirational stories with theological themes. There is no fee to attend, however, attendees are invited to bring a dish to share.

Grab a donut or a seat
Keeping with a long-standing tradition, a refreshment tent will be open at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church during Clawson's Fourth of July parade.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. July 4, coffee, doughnuts, juice and soda will be available for purchase. The proceeds will go toward purchasing a sound system for the church.

Parade watchers are also encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs and enjoy the festivities on the lawn in front of the church.
Additionally, the Monday evening worship service will be at 7 p.m. July 4. If you are unable to attend Sunday service and would like to spend some time in worship, prayer and to share in Communion, stop in for this informal time of worship.

Fuel for the soul
A new, midweek program will be offered for all generations at Prince of Glory Church in Madison Heights. "Spiritual Vitamin" is a family oriented activity, taking a closer look at the Gospel of Mark.
The program begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and will run every Wednesday until Aug. 24. A light supper will be offered. There is no charge to attend, but a freewill offering is always welcome.
