Churches schedule summer programs for families and children.

Last call for camp!

Prince of Glory is offering another free Preschool-Readiness Camp for all 3- and 4-year-old children from 9:30-11 a.m. Aug. 8-12. The camp will provide an opportunity for parents to introduce their children to preschool and see how the youngsters will do in a classroom environment.

Activities for the week include:

  • Monday: Discuss different careers, dramatic play and drawing.
  • Tuesday: Talk about insects, enjoy math activities and make a dragonfly craft.
  • Wednesday: Explore the five senses and create textured collages.
  • Thursday: Learn about names, study letter sounds and create tactile letters.
  • Friday: Students will explore aspects of nature, take a nature walk and make an art project with found items.

Step up to enrichment programs

Faith Stepping Stones, a family focused enrichment program, is sceduled for 9:30-11 a.m. on Aug. 13, 20 and 27 in the Berkley Community Center, 2400 Robina.  

"Stone 3” is for parents and children who are entering kindergarten. The programs are fast-paced, and families will learn to care for the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of the parents and child. Parents will learn how to develop family traditions that will create an bond with their child by sharing highs and lows, prayer and blessings.

Total panda-monium!

, 1717 W. 13 Mile Rd., will host PandaMania, a Vacation Bible School, 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 22-29. Kids ages 4-12 years will enjoy stories, snacks, crafts and games. A $5 donation per child is suggested.
