News from the Pews: Community Meal, Youth Group Car Wash, Vacation Bible Schools

Churches continue the summer fun with dinner, Bible schools and camps.

Community Meal

, 1717 W. 13 Mile Road, will host its monthly Community Dinner from 4-6 p.m. on July 24. There is no charge to attend.  The homemade meal will feature pasta, salad, desserts and beverages. Starr Church is collecting new and gently used backpacks for the “Memphis Project.” The backpacks will be given to the guests who will be served during this winter’s Warming Shelter. Shrine youth group car wash

The C.R.E.W. youth group of is having a car wash 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Woodward side parking lot. Bake goods and other snacks will be sold. All donations will help send the teens of Shrine Parish to World Youth Day and the National Catholic Youth Conference.

Suggested ages: 3 years (with one year of preschool) through sixth grade.

More information: Bible Heroes Bible Camp will be taking a look at several Bible heroes, including David and Goliath, Joseph and Esther. There will be skits, music, Bible study, science, crafts and recreation. A light lunch will be served at noon for the participants and their families.
