News from the Pews: Outdoor, Monday Services New for Summer

Local churches take up flower planting and alternative worship times.

Kids will 'dig' this lesson

Approximately 50 Sunday school students in grades 1-8 will be digging in the dirt Sunday with members of the Green Team at , 1314 Northwood Blvd. Because of this annual intergenerational service project, 84 red geraniums will brighten the church grounds all summer.

The Green Team is a group of outdoor volunteers, tending everything on the church grounds, with the exception of mowing of the lawn, according to the Rev. John Miller, pastor of .

“We have great flower and planting beds and lots of lovely details all around the property.  People go out of their way to walk through our grounds as they come through the neighborhood. I really like that feature,” Miller said in an email.
