Pet of the Week: Britta is Looking for a Home with Lots of Toys

Britta is a playful kitty. She'd love a home with lots of toys and a cozy bed to curl up in. Check her out at the Royal Oak Animal Shelter.

Some folks are afraid of black cats, but Britta works hard to fight the superstition. She is full of love, and there’s nothing to fear with this dainty gal.

Though she is full-grown, Britta is a very small cat. She’s very slender and weighs about 7 pounds. Her beautiful black fur is matched with black whiskers and gold eyes.

When Britta came to the shelter, staffers said she was “painfully shy.” She often hid in the corner of her cage and had no interest in making friends. With time, Britta has become a lot more friendly and now has an outgoing personality. She loves to talk to her visitors. She's still be a bit shy at times, but it her only a few minutes to warm up to human companionship.

Now that Britta is more sociable, she’ll do just about anything to get attention. She often paces in circles, rolls on the floor and rubs against her cage to attract some love. Britta enjoys giving kisses and purring to show her appreciation.

Because Britta is still a little shy, she loves having a cozy bed to hide in. She’d prefer a home with a safety spot where she can hang out when she's feeling timid. With a permanent family, Britta should come out of her shell more.

Britta is about 1 year old and she has the playful personality to match her young age. Even when she can't find a play companion, Britta can be found batting things around her cage by herself. She prefers smaller toys — anything she can toss around with her paws.

The playful gal is easy to please with food. Shelter staffers said she will eat any type of food. She also enjoys treats and catnip.

Britta is spayed, housebroken and up to date on her shots.

The is open 4-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-noon Saturday. Call 248-246-3364 or visit the shelter's website at roas.petfinder.com.
