Pets of the Week: Jasmine and Juliet are a Perfect Pair

These two cats have spent their entire lives together and are looking for a home to adopt them both.

If you're looking for a couple of loving cats, Jasmine and Juliet are the perfect pair for you. These two felines have lived together all their lives and are now at the looking for someone to adopt them together. They are best pals and would hate to be separated.

“If someone wants two 'chill' lap cats, these girls would be great for them,” said Lisa Yaeck, animal shelter volunteer.

Weighing in at 14 pounds, Jasmine is a big bundle of fluff. She has long black fur, matching black whiskers and green eyes. Jasmine is 9 years old. She loves sleeping on anything soft. This kind kitty has a bit of an angry face, but she's just putting up a front. She has a reserved personality but loves attention. She enjoys kneading her paws.

Juliet is slightly smaller than her best pal, weighing 12 pounds. She is considered a "tuxedo" cat – mostly black with white paws, chest and belly. The gold-eyed gal is 6 years old. Juliet isn't very interested in playtime and usually prefers to roll around on her toys rather than play with them. The black and white beauty is more outgoing than her pal and isn't afraid to ask for attention.

“They're just such sweet cats,” Yaeck said. “They'd love a family willing to give them a lot of love and attention.”

Both cats love eating and aren't picky about their diets. They also enjoy treats and catnip.

The pair have been at the shelter since mid-March. Their previous owner became very sick and was forced to surrender them.

Shelter staff said because the cats have such a strong connection, they may not want to be friends with other cats. However, they don't mind other shelter cats, so they may adapt to a home with other felines. Shelter staff said the cats have never been around other dogs, but they should adjust if introduced slowly.

Both girls are declawed. They are up to date on their shots and in great health. They are both spayed and housebroken.

If you are interested in a pair of loveable kitties, the Royal Oak Animal Shelter is featuring its Purr-Fest Pairs Adoption Campaign. With the adoption of one cat, you can receive another for free.

The Royal Oak Animal Shelter is open 4-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-noon Saturday. Call 248-246-3364 or visit the shelter's website at roas.petfinder.com.
