Plenty of Fireworks Displays Set as Fourth of July Nears

From parks to cities to Greenfield Village, there are a lot of light shows and festivals to celebrate the holiday.

Following is a list of area fireworks displays, some of which are part of larger festivals and activities. All fireworks begin at dusk, which is generally shortly after 10 p.m. There is no admission fee unless otherwise stated.

July 2 

Fireworks Spectacular, Groveland Oaks County Park
Where: Groveland Oaks County Park, 14555 Dixie Highway, Holly
Cost: $10 per vehicle entry fee after 5 p.m.; free with a 2011 Oakland County Parks Annual Vehicle Permit (which is available for purchase at the park)

Fireworks Over Stony Creek
Where: Stony Creek Metropark, 4300 Main Park Rd., Shelby Township
Cost: Enter the park with annual vehicle entry permit ($25) or pay $5 for a single day permit.
Details: Fireworks will be over the lake on Baypoint Beach. The park recommends arriving at least two hours early because of crowds. Visitwww.metroparks.com

West Bloomfield Fireworks
Where: Benson Ford Jr. property, 5171 Middlebelt Rd. on Walnut Lake

Lake Orion fireworks
Where: display will be shot from barges anchored off Squaw Island in Lake Orion

White Lake Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks
Where: White Lake
More information: Fireworks will be launched from two barges located near the southern end of the lake. Great public spots to watch include Mitchell's Marina, 2543 N. Duck Lake Rd., in Highland or The White Lake Inn, 3955 Ormond Rd., in White Lake.

Through July 3 

Greenfield Village’s 19th Annual Salute to America
When: 6-10 p.m. Gates open to the public at 6 p.m. for the evening’s activities, fireworks at dusk accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s "1812 Overture" with live cannon fire. 
Where: Greenfield Village’s Walnut Grove historic district, Dearborn
Cost: Tickets range from free for kids 4 and under to $50 for a VIP package

Through July 4

Freedom Fireworks Festivities, Addison Oaks County Park
When: Park opens at dawn for a weekend’s worth of activities and music.
Where: Fireworks  (July 2 at 9:30 p.m.) over the beach area at Addison Oaks County Park, 1480 W. Romeo Rd., Leonard, MI, 9 miles north of Rochester. 
Cost: $10 per vehicle entry fee after 5 p.m.; free with a 2011 Oakland County Parks Annual Vehicle Permit (which is available for purchase at the park)

July 3 

Birmingham Fireworks Display
When: Gates open at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Lincoln Hills Golf Course, 2666 W. 14 Mile Rd., enter through the gates at the corner of Lincoln and Cranbrook
More information: Rain date is July 5. Parking is available at Seaholm High School. No alcohol is permitted. Bring your own lawn chairs and picnic dinners.

Pine Lake Country Club Fireworks
Where: Pine Lake Country Club, 3300 Pine Lake Rd., West Bloomfield Township

When: 9 a.m. parade, dusk for fireworks
Where: Parade runs from Clawson Shopping Center to City Park; fireworks at City Park
Cost: $2 admission for fireworks

Huntington Woods Fireworks
When: 10 p.m.
Where: Rackham Golf Course, 10100 W. 10 Mile Rd., Huntington Woods

Oakland County Boat Club Fireworks 
Where: over Sylvan Lake
