Police Blotter: Man Attacked, Homes Invaded, Car and Bikes Stolen

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

From Royal Oak Police reports for Nov.17-24:

Man attacked, beaten

  • 5000 block of Delemere, Nov. 18: A man reported that another man wearing a ski mask attacked him as he exited his vehicle. The suspect struck him in the head with an unknown object and punched him several times before running away. Nothing was stolen from the victim. 

Home invasions

  • 3000 block of West 13 Mile, Nov. 17: The complainant reported that someone forced entry through his locked front door and stole two flat screen TV’s, a watch and an unspecified amount of cash.
  • 4000 block of Hampton, Nov. 18: Someone forced entry through a locked rear door and stole an unknown amount of loose change, jewelry and some antiques.
  • 1100 block of Hoffman, Nov. 21: The complainant reported someone entered the home through an unlocked sliding glass door, while the resident was home, and stole a laptop computer. 

Car stolen

  • 4200 block of Samoset, Nov. 21: A 2011 Subaru Legacy was stolen from the driveway. The car was left running in the driveway while the owner went back into the home.

Larceny from automobile

  • 2000 block of North Wilson, Nov. 18: A laptop computer and Tom Tom GPS unit were stolen from the unlocked vehicle. 

Other incidents

  • Starr/Jaycee Park, West 13 Mile Road and Evergreen Drive, Nov. 18:  A man reported he was with his child when two teen boys on BMX bikes took his backpack, containing his prescription for Adderall. The boys fled eastbound. 
  • 700 block of Orchard View, Nov. 20:  A man reported his red Snapper push lawnmower was stolen from his front yard.  A gold Dodge Caravan was seen pulling up in the front of the home and a man with gray hair was seen putting the lawnmower into the back of the vehicle.
  • 600 block of East Sunnybrook, Nov. 22: A pumpkin was used to smash the rear window of a car. 
  • Royal Oak Library, 222 E. 11 Mile, Nov. 17:  A bicycle was stolen from the bike rack.
  • Third and Main streets, Nov. 21:  An unlocked bike was stolen.

Arrests

Royal Oak Police made 25 arrests during the period, including:

  • 4 marijuana possession and narcotic equipment paraphernalia
  • 3 operating while intoxicated
  • 2 felony warrant
  • 1 driving while license suspended
  • 1 driving while license suspended and  felony warrant
  • 1 driving while license suspended and  traffic warrant
  • 1 driving while license suspended and  misdemeanor warrant
  • 1 damage to property and  misdemeanor warrant
  • 1 larceny – less than $200
  • 2 marijuana possession and  felony warrant and  misdemeanor warrant
  • 1 operating while intoxicated and  accident - fail to stop and identify
  • 1 driving while license suspended and  improper lane use – accident
  • 1 misdemeanor warrant
  • 1 traffic arrest warrant
  • 1 retail fraud misrepresentation third degree
  • 2 retail fraud theft second degree
  • 1 marijuana possession and narcotic equipment paraphernalia and dangerous drugs
