Police Recognize Three Men for Aiding Victim at Shooting Range

At Monday's Royal Oak City Commission meeting, three men are praised for their actions after witnessing a young woman suffer a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Three men were praised for their actions in a grave situation at City Hall on Monday.

Royal Oak Police Chief Corrigan O’Donohue awarded Dr. Wasfeh Abdul-Kadar Musheinesh, Ahmad Musheinesh and Dr. Adnan Kassier with Royal Oak Police Department Citizen Awards.

On Dec. 21, the three were patronizing Target Sports indoor range when they witnessed a young woman suffer a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and quickly moved to her side, O’Donohue said.

“Ahmad gave his brother his sweatshirt, which the doctor used to apply pressure to the wound,” the chief said. “Dr. Musheinesh and Dr. Kassier then performed CPR and monitored the victim’s breathing and pulse until the Royal Oak Fire Department arrived on the scene and took over.”

The woman ultimately died from her injuries, but the quick actions of the three men allowed time for her family to gather at Beaumont Hospital and be with her before she passed, O’Donohue said.
