Recently, Royal Oak Patch readers debated open burning and fire pits rules. Last week, the Royal Oak City Commission voted 5-2 to possibly repeal the open burning ordinance after more than 800 signatures were collected in support of modifying the current ban.

"I can't wait for this to pass. I feel like the nay-sayers are overreacting. Responsible adults have been sitting around bonfires since the dawn of time. Lighten up folks, it's going to be a great summer! Nothing like a fire pit to keep the mosquitoes away, and encourage everyone to get outside now and then."
