Let's Dance: Royal Oak High School, 100 Years and Counting

Royal Oak High School students marked the 100th day of the school's 100th year with a 100 second dance party.

Students and staff at Royal Oak High School put on their dancing shoes today to celebrate the school's centennial.

At the 100th minute (9:35) of the 100th day of this school year (Feb. 1) a schoolwide 100-second dance party was conducted to mark 100 years. Music was played over the PA system and students and teachers got up and danced in classrooms and the halls.

The party atmosphere continued during lunch, as students wrote celebrational notes on 100 stars, which were then displayed on the lower glass hall windows.

Tonight the Raven boys' basketball team takes on Hazel Park at home - which will be a "blackout" game to promote Raven pride.  T-shirts will be on sale and commemorative 100-year ROHS bracelets will be distributed to students.

After the basketball game, the Interact Club will be hosting the 100 Years of Love dance (combining the centennial with Valentines' Day) to benefit Common Ground.

On Apr. 25, the school will host a community wide celebration - much more to come on that, according to Principal Jim Moll.
