Royal Oak Students to Spend Winter Break Bringing Hurricane Relief

Members of Royal Oak High School's Interact club seek funds to help with costs of traveling to Louisiana to aid victims of Hurricane Isaac.

Local teens - who will be spending their winter break helping Hurricane Isaac victims reclaim their lives in LaPlace, Louisiana - need help paying for their travel to and from LaPlace and to pay for their food and shelter while there for a week.

This volunteer trip has been organized by the National Relief Network in conjunction with Interact at Royal Oak High School.

With all the attention Hurricane Sandy has received, most have forgotten about Hurricane Isaac and the damage it caused.

The teenagers along with their adult chaperones and fellow volunteers, will be leaving by bus Feb. 17, driving straight until they reach LaPlace, Louisiana.

Their arrival time has been coordinated to permit them to put in a full days work, the day they arrive. They will work the entire week, with their return trip to begin on Saturday, Feb. 23.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, as the student volunteers must pay their own way.
