Wind Advisory in Effect Tuesday for Royal Oak

A strong cold front in southeastern Michigan has brought high winds and lower temperatures to the region Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for the region - including Royal Oak - until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Winds are expected to pick up throughout the day, with "frequent" gusts as high as 45 miles per hour. Additionally, the NWS reports, temperatures will fall to around 24 degrees by 3 p.m., and snow showers are expected.

Snow accumulation should be less than one inch.

The rest of the week won't provide much relief for those who are seeking spring-like weather. Temperatures are predicted to remain in the 20s and 30s, peaking at a high of 39 degrees on Saturday.

The NWS cautions that the high winds could cause downed branches, leading to power outages. There were no major outages reported in the Dearborn area as of 10 a.m. Tuesday.

To prepare for high winds, southeastern Michigan residents are encouraged to use precaution while driving—especially high-profile vehicles. Additionally, residents are encouraged to move trash cans, outdoor furniture, and other outdoor items into their garage or home.
