Woodward Resurfacing Expected to Begin Next Week

All work on this $4.8 million investment is scheduled to wrap up in November.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be resurfacing more than 5 miles of M-1 (Woodward Avenue) between 14 Mile Road in Royal Oak and Oakridge Boulevard in Pleasant Ridge. Work on this $4.8 million investment is expected to begin May 28 and is scheduled to be completed in November.

In an effort to minimize the impact on commuters, multiple lane closures will be restricted to overnight hours on weekdays and all times on weekends.

Consideration will be given to marquee events at the Detroit Zoo, the Woodward Dream Cruise and the Arts, Beats and Eats Festival.

Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Median crossovers will be closed at times during construction with traffic detoured to the next available crossover.

To provide accessibility to all members of the community, MDOT's investment will feature sidewalk improvements compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
