What They Are Saying About Royal Oak's Human Rights Ordinance

Many residents and groups have shared their thoughts on the Royal Oak Human Rights Ordinance on Patch.

There are a few things on the Royal Oak ballot today, but nothing has received more attention than the Human Rights Ordinance.

Opponents of the issue succeeded in forcing the human rights ordinance passed by commissioners in March to a vote after submitting the required 746 valid signatures of registered voters in April. 

Since then Royal Oak Patch has received many opinions on the ordinance.

1. Joanne  posted share her thoughts in her Voting Against Proposal A Nov 5 blog, stating "Royal Oak is already known for its tolerance and acceptance.  The mayor and city commission, minus Poulton, have caused division and strife in our community."

3. Gerry Boylan posted Prop A: Panic in the Bathroom, which quote a postcard that said, "Prop A will make your public restrooms scary."

6.  Shawna shared Ellison Crosses the Line, which says, "So Mayor Ellison regurgitates the One Royal Oak talking points in "his" letter to the community and now has appeared in a TV ad supporting Prop A?"

7. Alexander Francis Murphy posted, Proposal A: an Honest Evaluation stating, "There is obviously a lot of controversy regarding Proposal A. Those against it say that there are many harmful aspects of the ordinance. There are a few major misconceptions that I’d like to talk about."
