Who's Spent What? Mayor Files Campaign Finance Report

Mayor Jim Ellison files required pre-election financial statements with the state.

Mayor Jim Ellison, who is running for re-election unopposed, filed his Pre-Election Statements with the Secretary of State office today, according to Oakland County Clerk records.

The finance statement, which was due Oct. 25, shows the Friends of Jim Ellison committee reported $10,295 in contributions and has spent $2,755, leaving the mayor with a $9,051 balance, which includes $1,511 leftover from the last report he filed.

The report shows the bulk of the contributions to Ellison's war chest came from a fundraiser held on Mar. 14 —  before the mayor knew if another candidate would jump in the race. The deadline to file petitions for the Nov. 5 election was Aug. 15.

The fundraiser at the home of Royal Oak residents Michael Chetcuti and Kyle Evans brought in $7,695.
