Every March, the hockey teams of the Royal Oak Police Department and the Royal Oak Fire Department square off in the annual Royal Oak 'Guns & Hoses' Charity Hockey Game.
All proceeds from this event go to support a charitable cause in the Metro Detroit area.
The Third Annual Royal Oak Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game is scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 23 at 7 p.m. at Lindell Ice Arena in Royal Oak.
The beneficiary of the 2013 Royal Oak Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game will be the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Since its inception in 2010, the event successfully has raised over $14,000 for local charities.
In both 2010 and 2011, a combined 1200 people attended the First and Second Annual Royal Oak Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game, where they witnessed the Royal Oak Fire Department beat the Royal Oak Police Department 5-4 on both occasions.
