Why encourage the uninformed and uncaring to vote?

'Online balloting could attract millions to the polls'

A USA Today poll of non-voters in November's election found:

  • Most are younger and have lower income levels than voters.
  • Nearly a quarter is Hispanic.
  • Feel disconnected from politics.
  • Six in ten say voting has little to do with the way real decisions are made in the U.S.
  • Pay less attention to current events than voters.

These are people for whom one political party wants to make voting easier, more convenient. Makes sense, because the same poll reports that the sampled non-voters reported they would have voted for Obama over Romney, 44% to 26%.
