POG Coffeehouse Benefit for Bicycles

Will Meinberg, 20,of Royal Oak, and Helen Soehren, 58, of Troy, members of Prince of Glory Lutheran Church in Madison Heights ( POG) , travelled across the globe to Mbulu, Tanzania , East Africa, last October, and  personally witnessed the impact that 10 plus years of  POG's  fundraising efforts and spiritual support  has had on the ground to the people of Mbulu.

Most of the locals in Mbulu live in simple one or two room dwellings without electricity or running water. Most walk to school or work or Church, as motor vehicles are a  luxury even for professionals like Pastors and school teachers. The Mbulu Lutheran Church, POG's sister Church,  is growing by leaps and bounds, and the Church building is not sufficient to house all who want to hear The Word. The distance to the Church building is quite substantial for many in the area to travel to on foot. So, the Pastor and designated Evangelists travel to 8 smaller "outposts,"  located up to 45 minutes  to 1 hour away,  where at least 50 or more additional worshipers will gather.

Mbulu does not have a free public school system like that which exists here in Michigan.  There is a fee to attend, which many families cannot afford. The Mbulu  Lutheran Church provides one of the primary schools in the area.  The Mbulu Lutheran Church is also the local center for Compassion International, which sponsors most of the children that attend the Mbulu School.

This year, Prince of Glory is hoping to raise funds to purchase  several bicycles to help provide transportation for the Christian Education teachers to travel to the Primary school, as well as for the Evangelists to travel to the outposts. You can help! Prince of Glory is holding a Benefit Coffeehouse for this purpose on Saturday, February 11 @ 7 p.m.
